Cradle to Cradle Islands (C2CI)
The Cradle to Cradle Islands project (C2CI) is an Interreg IVB North Sea
Region Project with 22 partners from six countries around the North Sea.
- Leading vision: islands as innovation centres that implement sustainable and Cradle to Cradle® solutions.
- Main goal: to develop innovative solutions in the field of energy, water and materials, using Cradle to Cradle® principles as a guide.
- Project duration: from January 1, 2009 to Summer 2012.
- Total budget: € 3.5 million (50% European funding, 50% co financing by partners).
The partnership: Province of Fryslân (Lead Beneficiary), the islands, municipalities of Ameland and Texel (NL), municipality of Spiekeroog, Insel-und Halligkonferenz (D), Samsø Energy akademy and municipality of Norddjurs (DK), municipality of Tjörn (SE), Runde and Storvagan Environmental Centre (N), Shetland Islands (UK) and knowledge institutes Delft University of Technology, Wetsus, centre of excellence for sustainable water technolgy, Wetterskip Fryslân, HZ University of Applied Sciences, EPEA/M. Braungart, OOWV Oldenburg, Lund University, Aalborg University, IRRI Edinburgh, PURE Energy Centre/Shetlands.
